Young Peace Builders (YPB) cultivates just that, nurturing young leaders from diverse backgrounds, their potential unfolding with each rotational leadership role. In a world obsessed with fixed stars, Young Peace Builders throws open the constellations, unleashing a galaxy of young leaders, their paths ablaze as they take turns navigating the helm.

Meet our Peace Pioneer;
Amb. Herbert B. Bangura is an internationally recognized Peacebuilder, Youth development Specialist, and Human Rights Advocate with over a decade of Executive Leadership in post-conflict recovery, climate resilience, and community empowerment across West Africa.
Having survived the devastating civil conflicts in both Sierra Leone and Liberia, losing family, friends, and home to the realities of war and forced displacement, Herbert’s early life as a refugee deeply forged his lifelong commitment to human dignity, non-violence, and social justice. Transforming personal adversity into systemic action, he has dedicated his career to ensuring that marginalized youth transition from vectors of vulnerability to key drivers of sustainable peace and development.
As the Founder and Executive Director of Young Peace Builders (YPB), Herbert led the evolution of the organization from a localized youth movement into a prominent regional force. Under his stewardship, YPB has pioneered high-impact initiatives bridging Peacebuilding with rural economic development, including climate-smart youth peace farms and sustainable agro-pastoral projects. Notably, his visionary leadership of the “Peace-through-Livestock” initiative earned global recognition from the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, exemplifying his innovative application of the One Health framework to link environmental management, public health, and rural stability. Herbert’s diplomatic and leadership credentials span local, regional, and international arenas:
Regional Speaker, Mano River Union Youth Parliament, leading youth advocacy and cross-border Peacebuilding initiatives across the Mano River Union & West Africa.
Commonwealth Peace Pioneer (Kigali, Rwanda, 2010), recognized for outstanding leadership and grassroots conflict transformation skills.
U.S. Department of State Community Solutions Leader and alumnus of Uppsala University’s Conflict Transformation & International Mediation program.
Beyond his structural advocacy, Herbert is an accomplished motivational speaker and vocalist. He leverages music and strategic multimedia as powerful tools for social cohesion amplifying messages of peace, reconciliation, and women’s rights to inspire holistic human development across frontline communities.

As a common quote, Herbert would always say: “Africa is blessed, our youth have a lot of potentials and zest, if not given the opportunity to utilize them for the good of our common humanity, we shall continue to struggle with crimes, insecurity, abuse of human rights, bad governance and under development.
